Risks & source coverage

  • PROJECT CANCELLED Contracts cancelled in October 2020 and March 2021; reported July 29–30, 2021 KXAN reported that three Central Texas buyers said Brohn Homes cancelled their pre-closing purchase contracts, including one cancellation three weeks before closing; the buyers said they complained to the Texas Attorney General, which confirmed receiving 10 complaints against Brohn Homes in the preceding year (seven concerning contracts) and said it was continuing to review them. Brohn denied cancelling for financial gain, said the cancellations were rare, returned the buyers’ deposits plus $500, and said the buyers’ situations involved contract or mortgage-fraud concerns, harassment, construction disruption or threatened legal action.
  • LEGAL Filed May 14, 2025 A public case listing records Jennifer Hicks v. Clayton Properties Group, Inc. d/b/a Brohn Homes as a Bastrop County civil case filed on May 14, 2025; the available record identifies an original petition but does not state the claims, outcome or whether the matter has been resolved.
  • RISK Current profile accessed October 16, 2026; BBB file opened June 15, 2012 The Better Business Bureau profile currently gives Brohn Homes an F rating, stating that the business had seven complaints and failed to respond to four of them; the profile does not establish the merits or outcome of those complaints.

Click a row in the chart to open a project, or a table row below to see its sources. The chart runs wider than the page where the record spans many years — scroll it sideways to follow a project to its handover. Every date we have is drawn. A hollow marker is only a launch year, not a date anyone published. No dates published means we looked and found none; dates not yet checked means we have not looked yet. Handing over is not finished — rows say which. A delay is shown when one source gives the promised date and another gives the real one, however rough: "2019" still counts, and the row shows how wide that is. Projects missing one of the two dates, or with sources that disagree, are left out of the figures. 6 turned out to be about something else — a phase, a neighbour, the wider masterplan — and are marked off-subject.

Google Reviews/Maps provides the qualifying anchor at 4.7/5 from 44 reviews, converted to 9.1/10 on the stated market curve. The written feedback consistently reinforces professional staff and a smooth, organized buying experience, adding a modest commentary uplift; there is no published evidence supporting a separate structure score.

+ Well-organized construction process+ Meticulous planning+ Quality-control inspection praised
+ Helpful professional staff+ Responsive follow-up+ Smooth buying process+ Weekly construction updates+ Welcoming neighbors

The available written feedback contains no recurring reports of leaks, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, lift or other system failures. One purchaser said the build was “incredibly organized and meticulously planned,” while another praised the contractor’s thoroughness and the quality-control agent’s attention to detail; these are isolated observations rather than a building-wide engineering rating.

The reviews describe a strongly positive day-to-day and customer-service experience: staff were called “kind, professional, and genuinely helpful,” and an out-of-state buyer reported weekly updates during the final construction stages. Another reviewer described the community as friendly and said the neighbors were welcoming; no operational complaint was raised in the written reviews read.

Only buildings that have reached handover are rated. 3 of 4 projects carry no rating: a building still under construction is never asked about, one that has just been handed over may not have been reached yet, and the rest were asked about and no published resident commentary was found. Structure is fixed at handover and stays the developer's; management and living belongs to whoever runs the building now. The overall verdict weights both rather than averaging them. None of this is checked: a rating is what people published about a building, aggregated — it is not evidence, it cannot move a delay figure, and it is not part of the delivery record above.

Projects

Assessment coverage

Completed projects: 2016-10-16 through 2026-10-16. Initial research is capped at 10 completed projects and a separate delivery-risk search capped at 7 findings. Risk findings are not project assessment counts. Absence is not proof of a complete portfolio or no failures. Month-level dates overlapping a boundary are excluded from figures.

1 undated completions and 1 boundary-uncertain completions are retained but excluded from figures.

Stalled, cancelled & overdue projects

0 evidenced cases
The capped delivery-risk search ran; no project-level exception cases are recorded here. Risk findings are listed under Risks and are separate from assessed projects. This does not establish that the developer has no delivery failures.

Risks

PROJECT CANCELLED Contracts cancelled in October 2020 and March 2021; reported July 29–30, 2021
KXAN reported that three Central Texas buyers said Brohn Homes cancelled their pre-closing purchase contracts, including one cancellation three weeks before closing; the buyers said they complained to the Texas Attorney General, which confirmed receiving 10 complaints against Brohn Homes in the preceding year (seven concerning contracts) and said it was continuing to review them. Brohn denied cancelling for financial gain, said the cancellations were rare, returned the buyers’ deposits plus $500, and said the buyers’ situations involved contract or mortgage-fraud concerns, harassment, construction disruption or threatened legal action.
LEGAL Filed May 14, 2025
A public case listing records Jennifer Hicks v. Clayton Properties Group, Inc. d/b/a Brohn Homes as a Bastrop County civil case filed on May 14, 2025; the available record identifies an original petition but does not state the claims, outcome or whether the matter has been resolved.
RISK Current profile accessed October 16, 2026; BBB file opened June 15, 2012
The Better Business Bureau profile currently gives Brohn Homes an F rating, stating that the business had seven complaints and failed to respond to four of them; the profile does not establish the merits or outcome of those complaints.
PROJECT CANCELLED Events reported July 29–30, 2021; underlying cancellations included October 2020 and March 2021; status evidence is contemporaneous to the report, not a current 2026 investigation.
In 2020–2021, Clayton Properties Group, Inc. d/b/a Brohn Homes cancelled several pre-closing home contracts in the Bar W Ranch subdivision in Leander, Manor and Cedar Creek, according to affected buyers; Brohn Homes said such terminations were rare, denied cancelling for financial gain, attributed its stated policy to buyer-related circumstances, and reported refunds plus $500 to the interviewed families. The report also says the affected homes were subsequently occupied or relisted, so this documents cancelled buyer transactions rather than an unresolved development abandonment.
